BTF BLASTS BOARD’S THREAT TO CUT RETIREE HEALTH CARE
– SEEKS COURT INTERVENTION
The BTF today blasted the Superintendent and School Board for threatening to end retired teachers/ health care if they did not complete a District survey in ten (10) days. (see enclosed)
The BTF contends that the Superintendent and Board have no right to cancel a retiree’s health care. Calling the District’s threats to retired teachers “unconscionable and callous”, Rumore demanded “an immediate retraction and apology to all retired teachers”.
“Once again, we have a Superintendent and School Board attempting to unilaterally violate our contract and in so doing terrifying our retired teachers. How pathetic”, Rumore stated.
“It is being widely stated that you (Superintendent & Board) are doing this as a reprisal against the BTF”, Rumore continued.
The School District has been ordered to appear before Judge Patrick NeMoyer, Part 37, 50 Delaware Avenue on Friday, March 16th at 3:30 p.m.
