Schools - Non-violence Begins With Me Day
All schools to post non-violence signs on May 25
Over two hundred "Non Violence Begins With Me" signs, two (2) per school, have been distributed to schools for placement on Thursday, May 25th.
The kickoff ceremony will be held at Martin Luther King School where representatives of the BTF, the school district, F.A.T.H.E.R.S., Stop The Violence coalition, and a representative of Bissonnette House will be present.
The signs were paid for and distributed by the BTF.
Each school is being asked by the BTF to place the signs at their school entrance at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 25th. Teachers are also being asked to discuss non-violence with their students.
"Yes this is a small gesture; however, if it stops the murders, beatings or similar acts of violence, it will be worth it," stated BTF President Phil Rumore.
F.A.T.H.E.R.S. will unveil its peace banner at the MLK kickoff ceremony. Students will be placing peace doves on the banner.
