COURT RULES FOR BTF AGAINST SCHOOL DISTRICT
New York State Supreme Court Judge Patrick NeMoyer today granted an injunction barring the Buffalo School District from terminating retired teachers’ health care.
The School District had sent a questionnaire to all retired teachers advising them that the District would cancel their health care if the retiree did not return the questionnaire form within ten (10) days.
Phil Rumore, President of the BTF, stated “Besides their not having the authority to cancel the retirees’ health care, terrifying our retirees with canceling their health care, if they didn’t return the form within ten days, is one of the most despicable actions that this District has taken.
The Superintendent and Board should send every retired teacher a letter of apology. However, we won’t hold our breath”.
